‘Country Tinkerbell’ Chevel Shepherd yodels along with ‘You’re Lookin’ At Country’ during ‘The Voice’ Top 10 week [WATCH]

Monday, December 3 on “The Voice,” Chevel Shepherd took on “You’re Lookin’ At Country” for Team Kelly Clarkson during the Top 10 performance episode. Kelly’s so-called “Country Tinkerbell” was tasked with yodeling along with her performance this week, which the judges all universally praised. Do you think this performance was good enough for Chevel to advance to next week’s Top 8 show for Team Kelly? Watch the “Voice” video above and read the coaches’ comments below.

Blake Shelton: “She is so cute, there’s no way around it. Chevel, you have found a way to make a Loretta Lynn song even countrier than it was originally. How is that possible? With the yodel that’s reoccurring throughout the performance, I thought it was a lot of fun. I thought you sang it great, so congratulations, sis.”

Jennifer Hudson: “I just think you are adorable and I love every single thing you do. I just love watching you enjoy it and that gives me joy alone. I love that you love what you do.”

Adam Levine: “Can I just say I love you? You’re probably really annoyed with everyone saying, ‘You’re so cute.’ But I don’t care. Because you’re so cute, I have to say it. And also so talented. I don’t want anyone to underestimate how talented you are. But man, I can’t stand it.”

Kelly Clarkson: “You’re super talented, but we also want to put you in our pocket and take you home. I remember when I was a kid and heard Leann Rimes sing ‘Blue’ and it was that old-school country that sounded Patsy, Loretta Lynn, all of that. It’s like my favorite. I can’t even believe I was blessed enough that you picked me to be on my team. I love you. I love everything you represent. I cannot wait to hear your record. I don’t even care if you win. You’re gonna make a record.”

Prior to this performance of “You’re Lookin’ At Country,” Chevel sang “If I Die Young” during the blind auditions, “You Look So Good in Love” during the battles, “Travelin’ Soldier” during the knockouts, “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Old Days)” during Top 26 week, “Little White Church” during Top 13 week and “Space Cowboy” during Top 11 week.

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about the live performance: “The yodeling comes naturally to the 16-year old and I enjoy her fresh take on classic country. Her voice is pure, but it has a bite to it that keeps things interesting. I would like to have seen her work the stage a bit more rather than being stuck up on a pedestal for most of the song, but she nailed the vocal.”
